Personal Injury Lawyer Directory

If you have been injured in a car accident, you probably know how stressful and confusing it can be trying to figure out what you need to do to try to piece your life back together.  Should you hire a lawyer or not?  If so, which lawyer should you hire?  You should definitely hire a lawyer.  Most personal injury lawyers work on contingency.  This means that you don't have to pay them for their work unless they get you a settlement for your injuries.  So there is no reason not to hire a lawyer.  You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.  I'm sure some people may wonder if they could get more money if they don't hire a lawyer.  After all, most injury lawyers do charge at least 33% of the settlement amount.  Here's one way to look at it:  Would you rather have 100% of a small amount or 66% of a big amount?  Not to mention, that if you decide to go for 66% of a big amount, you don't have to do any of the work; your lawyer will do all of the work.  You'll only have to worry about getting the medical treatment that you need.  So you should definitely hire a personal injury lawyer if you've been injured in an accident.

Some people may wonder if they even have a case worth pursuing.  Here's a quick way to know if you have a good case or not:  If you can get an injury lawyer to take your case on contingency, than that probably means that you have a good case.  If you call an experienced lawyer, than he will know whether or not it will be worth his time to take your case or not.  On the other hand, if you can't get a lawyer to take your case, and you've called at least three different lawyers, than that probably means that you don't have a case worth pursuing.  It probably means that there are either some liability issues with your case, or your injuries are not serious enough for you to pursue an injury case.

Now, the next question: Which lawyer should you hire?  You should hire a lawyer that you feel comfortable with.   There are all sizes of law firms.  There are the huge law firms with dozens of lawyers and even more paralegals and secretaries, and there are solo practitioners.  Of course, there is every size of law firm in between.  You may prefer to hire the biggest law firm in town because they are very well known.  You may prefer to hire a small law firm where the lawyer will know you personally.  The bottom line is that you should hire a lawyer that you feel comfortable.  You should feel like you can call or email him/her whenever you have any questions.  You should feel like the lawyer cares about you and will do everything he/she can do to get you the compensation that you deserve for your injuries.
